Description: Major is a typical Somerset apple. Fruit is yellowish-green flushed with red stripes. Flesh is white and rather soft producing sweet astringent juice. Full bittersweet, fruity, vintage cider that's best blended with other varieties for a more balanced flavour. A good variety to use for anyone who would like to have a go at homebrewing!
History: Probably arose in the central part of the country in around 1880, but is also found in many traditional orchards in Somerset.
